If your windows operating system gives you trouble which can not be solved easily then the only remedy is to re install windows. There are various versions of windows and each has slightly different method for reinstalling. Following is the method of reinstalling windows XP.

1. Keep ready your windows XP CD which you use to install XP in to your computer. However, if your computer comes with the windows XP and no CD is supplied then don't worry, there is a method to find the reinstall file on your hard drive.

2. Before attempting to reinstall Windows, you should copy all your important software, anti virus and other application on pen drive or on CD. Also copy your internet configuration settings and drivers for your external hardware/software. You can find many important files at C:\Documents and settings folder. Copy that also and back up all your data.

3. Insert your Windows XP CD in to the CD-ROM drive, reboot and start following on screen instructions. Once you finished, your Windows operating system is reinstalled on your computer.

While reinstalling you must select the option of preserving all your available data and the partition. However, it is found that sometime you are given only one option 'Return the drive to its factory condition', this option will erase all your data. That is why it is very important to save all your data prior to reinstalling Windows.

Once, your Windows XP is reinstalled, you have to again install all your drivers, software and application. You will have to configure your internet connection. Use the pen drive or the CD which you have made prior to reinstalling the Windows and install each application and other things manually one by one.

Reinstalling the Windows XP without installation CD

While installing the Windows XP, the original CD always keeps the reinstall file in to computer's disk. However, the reinstall file is not easy to detect. Since, it is lying in to the hidden partition of your hard drive. However, it is not difficult to access this file. If you observe closely then you will see some keys when you reboot your pc. These keys are visible before windows started loading. It is also possible that you won't able to see these keys then contact your pc manufacturer about these keys. Every computer has their unique keys. Once you know these keys, type it before windows load and you will see your hidden partition.
